The Negative Effects of Smoking

There are several negative effects of smoking. First, medical researchers have shown that second-hand smoke, that is, the smoke from other people's cigarettes, causes cancer and other health problems which can be long-lasting and can affect the general health of many people. If the smoke were car exhaust or burning trash, we would put out the fire and open the windows to get rid of the smoke. Second, it smells bad. The smoke drifts away from the smoker and fills the room. Even if someone is not sitting close to the smoker, their hair and clothes pick up the smell. Third, smoking causes allergies. Some people develop allergies when they get in contact with smokers or if they are in a room full of smoke. This can cause rash, dry skin and even affect their lungs and breathing. This is why people who smoke should reduce the number of cigarettes they smoke per day or give up smoking altogether.
